It was a weekend to forget for Celtic after they failed to close in on the Premiership title.
Brendan Rodgers’ trip to McDiarmid Park was supposed to be a celebratory one because Celtic fans were provided with three stands by St Johnstone.
This was in anticipation of Celtic officially securing the 2024/25 Premiership crown in Perth, but defeats along the way have now delayed the title party.

That included Celtic’s shock 1-0 loss to St Johnstone on Sunday, which was broadcast live on Sky Sports, with the familiar faces pitchside providing their analysis.
Many have now been used to Eilidh Barbour fronting the Scottish football coverage for Sky Sports, but this campaign hasn’t been great viewing for her.
The simple reason is the fact that her beloved St Johnstone are sitting at the foot of the table, hence why their win over the champions-elect was an even bigger shock.
Before and after the game, she was involved in some hilarious exchanges between her fellow Sky pundits – Kris Boyd, Neil Lennon and James McFadden.

Kris Boyd mocks Eilidh Barbour over St Johnstone’s style of play before Celtic match
Despite St Johnstone’s struggles this season, one thing hasn’t changed, and that’s Simo Valakari sticking with his style of play.
But before the game, a nervous Barbour suggested that Valakari won’t change his ways and will ‘try to play out from the back’ against the Treble-chasers.
Boyd mocked the comments by telling her that ‘it’s not working against everybody else’, so the best thing to do is try it against ‘the best team in the league’, as he told Sky Sports Football (06/04/25).
“He has got a system, a style that he likes to play Valakari,” said Barbour. “When you come up against a team like Celtic. You can’t move away from that, can you?
“You have got to try and use that system and style that you want to play. Albeit, you are coming up against really difficult opposition, so he will try to play out from the back.”
Boyd responded in a sarcastic fashion: “Yeah, well, it’s not working against everybody else, so we will try to do it against the best team in the league, that makes sense. Everybody at St Johnstone tells me that it’s good to come here and watch games of football now, so I am looking forward to this one.”
Barbour laughed and then added: “Can I get rid of him, please. I have had enough of you.”
And then post-match, after Celtic lost to St Johnstone
There is no doubt that St Johnstone deserved to beat Celtic, and Rodgers was rightfully annoyed after the match at his players.
Remember, the two teams meet again at Hampden for the Scottish Cup semi-final and a nervous Eilidh Barbour, before kick off, turned ‘confident’ and proceeded to bring it up.
James McFadden couldn’t help but jokingly laugh at his fellow colleague getting a spring in her step after the game had concluded.
“Let’s not forget that these two meet in the Scottish Cup semi-final as well in a couple of weeks,” stated Barbour.
McFadden responded: “You are feeling confident now, aren’t you? You see the state of you before this game.”
Lennon added: “I am not sure about that, Eilidh,” before Boyd added: “It just goes to show what 90 minutes of football does, doesn’t it?”
