Celtic will look to continue on their superb winning run when they head to St Mirren on Sunday.

The Bhoys’ only Premiership defeat this season came at the hands of the Buddies back in September. Celtic have since hammered St Mirren twice, in the league and in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. Both those games were at Parkhead, so the Hoops will hope to defeat the Saints on their own turf.

Ahead of the fixture, St Mirren winger Greg Kiltie spoke highly of Celtic defender Greg Taylor. The two players were teammates at Kilmarnock, making 31 appearances together, as per Transfermarkt.

‘He has definitely proven himself’

Kiltie is pleased to see his friend become such a key player for Celtic, having previously struggled at Parkhead. The 26-year-old also reckons Ange Postecoglou’s style of play is perfect for Taylor.

“He’s been excellent, probably one of Celtic’s most consistent performers,” the Glasgow Times quotes Kiltie as saying. “Especially before the injury he got against Rangers. He’s been tremendous. I think he’s shown everybody that he’s gone from stride to stride.

“He’s got better and better so I think he definitely has proven himself. The way Celtic plays suits him. He’s very good technically so he fits into their system. The way they want to play is perfect for him as a left-back.”

Taylor had played as a central midfielder for Kilmarnock at times, often interchanging with Kiltie. This has helped the Celtic ace, who has taken well to playing as an inverted full-back. Kiltie also spoke of how well Taylor has done in replacing Kieran Tierney when he went to Arsenal.

“Definitely, he’s got something about him,” the St Mirren man continued. “Greg and Kieran are two totally different players.

“Maybe the fans we expecting someone to come in and replicate what Tierney provided straight away. That was never going to be the case. Greg has gone in and he’s a totally different player, but the way Celtic play right now suits him down to a tee.”

Indispensable for Ange

Taylor has gone from strength to strength in recent months and it’s great to see peers lining up to sing his praises.

Kristoffer Ajer recently hailed the 25-year-old, and now a player he’s set to come up against has also praised him.

It’s great to see Taylor enjoying his football and becoming a major asset for the Bhoys after his earlier struggles.
