The new Celtic season is here and everyone is waking up to another joyful day to be a supporter after a pleasing weekend of Scottish Premiership action.

Celtic sit top of the table after the opening day following a 4-2 win at home to Ross County. Amusingly, after all the hype, rivals Rangers were beaten by Kilmarnock later in the evening, already leaving them in a deficit to the champions.

Goals from David Turnbull, Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley contributed to the win in front of a jam-packed Celtic Park, showing that these players can shine as brightly under Brendan Rodgers as before.

The club have now uploaded the Unique Angle footage of the day to their social media and YouTube channels which you can find via this link or embedded below.

If you missed the game, or simply haven’t seen footage following attendance at the stadium, the video does offer insight into the big moments throughout the 90 minutes.

First of all, it’s clearer than ever that the challenge on Greg Taylor was a stonewall penalty. There’s no ambiguity on that front. The left back is clearly checked down inside the box. It was a clumsy challenge and had undone good work from County in the opening ten minutes of the match.

You also get to see the two devastating sides to Kyogo, who was both finisher and creator on the day.

Firstly, he showed quick thinking and great movement to get free inside the box and latch on to Liel Abada’s breakaway cross. Then, in a flash, he flicks the ball through for O’Riley to fire home a superb finish, having searched for a direct pass from Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Kyogo is set to become a new creative outlet for the Bhoys, with Brendan Rodgers giving him license to drop deeper and stretch defences, allowing runners to find gaps from his lightning-quick and clever distribution. O’Riley was the beneficiary on Saturday but he won’t be the last this season.

It’s going to be exciting to see how that tactical switch influences performances moving forward. It could be the key to breaking down deep defences who expect the Japanese talent to always be pushing for space in behind, on the shoulder of their line.

The new Rodgers era is off to a strong start, in an attacking sense, and expect the Bhoys get better over the coming weeks.
