“That’s how it will be”; FC Midtjylland boss Bo Henriksen expecting no shocks from Celtic

FC Midtjylland boss Bo Henriksen isn’t expecting any shocks from Celtic, as they await the visit of the Bhoys tomorrow night.

In surprisingly feisty comments, Henriksen wasn’t just bullish about his own club’s chances. He identified a key weakness in Celtic’s armoury, while predicting exactly how the Hoops would play.

That’s despite being utterly dominated by the Celts last week.

The FC Midtjylland boss said [via Herald]:

“Like everyone else, we have also noticed the signs of weakness that Celtic clearly have in their defence at the moment.

“We hope, believe and feel that we can take advantage of those problems tomorrow night.

“In Scotland, Celtic came up with what we expected, and that’s how it will be tomorrow. It’s probably just the goalkeeper position we are unsure about. But it does not matter. We feel well prepared no matter what.

“I do not think Celtic are capable of anything other than attacking, attacking and attacking. We must try to play ourselves out of their first pressure, because then there are many opportunities in their spaces and on the outside. But it’s still a 50/50 game.”

Big talk from FC Midtjylland boss Bo Henriksen, whose barely saw the ball against Celtic

A couple of wee things:

Of course, Midtjylland boss Bo Henriksen isn’t going to say “Aye, we should’ve lost last week against Celtic, and we will do tomorrow. Don’t bother coming”. Otherwise, you get the sense his job interview with the club would’ve been over pretty quickly.

Still, that’s pretty big talk consider how comfortably Midtjylland ought to have been beaten by Celtic last week. The Hoops were all over them, with 63% possession, creating 11 chances [FotMob]. It was through our own profligacy and mistakes that this tie is still alive, being honest.

Midtjylland did not look prepared. They were losing the ball in dangerous areas, leaving pockets of space for the Celtic attackers, and looked frail defensively. For large parts of the game, you’d be confused as to which was the young, make-shift defence.

Yes, it’s still a 50/50 game. But if the Bhoys can continue with the same intensity, and cut out the mistakes that have been a perennial thorn in our side, then surely Celtic have more reason to be confident.

Granted, they had a solid result at the weekend. A 28th minute goal from Júnior Brumado saw the Danes past AaB [WhoScored?], following a surprising defeat in the first game of the season.

But these are comments Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is surely going to love reading.
