Celtic are scheduled to face Kilmarnock on Saturday, amid a severe weather warning for Glasgow and other parts of Scotland.
On Friday evening, police urged people to travel only if necessary this weekend with an amber weather warning in place for heavy rain. (BBC)
The Met Office said that the wettest parts of the Highlands and central Scotland could see as much as 180mm of rainfall. The warning is in place from 3am on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.
With the Hoops set to host Kilmarnock on Saturday at 3pm, many may be questioning if the match will go ahead. While the Celtic Park pitch may well be able to deal with that amount of rain, the travel warning could impact fans getting to and from the ground.
Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor did offer the latest on the situation early on Saturday, replying “As it stands we’re planning for the game as normal, naturally if anything changes Celtic will update straight away” to a fan asking if the game was at risk. (@CelticFCSLO on Twitter)
So right now we are still on. As always with these things, no news is good news.
If the game is on then it will be interesting to see what the Celtic Park surface is like, and if the crowd suffers as a result of the adverse weather. The latter seems a pretty likely scenario sadly.
Regardless, it’s all out of our hands. Let’s just hope the match is played and we can move a whopping ten points clear at the top.
