Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy scored his sixth goal in nine matches this afternoon against St Johnstone, helping the Bhoys to a 4-1 victory.
The Australian is in red-hot form, arguably playing better than anyone else in the Celtic squad. At McDiarmid Park, he had the biggest smile on his face – the 32-year-old is absolutely loving life at the moment.
And if you were wondering what his ‘S’ celebration was all about, displaying the symbol to cameras after his classy first-half finish in Perth, it was a tribute to his young daughter.

Family man Mooy is relishing spell in Scotland
Last month Mooy opened up on the joy of playing far closer to his family compared to his playing days in China and hopes his family can join him at Hampden for the upcoming Scottish League Cup final against Rangers.
He said: “That’s why this final will be extra special, even though I’m trying not to think that far ahead. The final is on February 26th, so that’s still a while away. One week can be a long time in football.
“But I’ve got my family here, I’m happy off the field and I walk into training every day with a smile on my face. I’m enjoying it and, hopefully, they can be there at the final.”
Other Celtic stars have had similar celebrations
Mooy is not the only Celtic man who has dedicated celebrations to his family. Daizen Maeda revealed last season that his famous Anpanman gesture was for his daughter. Former loanee Moi Elyounoussi also used to celebrate by signing out a letter for his daughter too.
In the drama and excitement of a title race, it’s easy to forget sometimes that these are special personal moments for these players. It’ll be a great buzz for Mooy and his family tonight that he is attracting so much attention and doing so well.
The confidence in his own game is clear to see at the moment and long may it continue. In full flow, the Socceroo is wonderful to watch and highly effective for Celtic.
