Celtic have ticked off game number two in pre-season.

After recording a 1-1 draw with Shelbourne last time out, Celtic suffered a 4-1 defeat to Sporting in Lisbon on Tuesday evening.

Camilo Duran scored in his first outing for Martin O’Neill’s side, but the game ended in defeat, as 67 Hail Hail have taken a look at three things we learned from the game.

Defeat for Celtic in Lisbon! 🚨🤔🍀

What did you make of that Celtic fans? Comment below…👇

Cameron Carter-Vickers needs time

Cameron Carter-Vickers was in the treatment room for the majority of last season, so he is going to need more time than others to find his rhythm again.

Sporting’s opening goal summed up why the Celtic Park faithful should be patient with the defender.

Gabriel Silva burst down the right channel, as Carter-Vickers tried to chase him down, but was nowhere near the Sporting star, before he cut the ball back for Geny Catamo to open the scoring.

The hard-hitting defender looked as though he was towing a caravan, appearing to run in quicksand.

Carter-Vickers clearly needs time to rediscover his sharpness and speed, which is exactly why fans must remain patient.

Luke McCowan stands out in Lisbon

Luke McCowan started the match and looked impressive for the Hoops.

The attack-minded midfielder played around an hour, constantly wanting to make the ball talk, as well as doing his defensive duties.

These were positive signs from McCowan, but now he needs to add that clinical edge in the final third if he wants to become a regular starter under O’Neill.

Camilo Duran looks lively

When the scores were 1-0, Duran was introduced into the action, and pretty much straight away, he made an impact.

Celtic’s new summer signing pressed his opponents into a mistake as they were playing out from the back before slotting the ball into the back of the net to level the scores for the champions of Scotland.

Even though Sporting would score three more goals, it shouldn’t take the shine away from Duran, because he looked lively during his time on the pitch, including pressing the Sporting players into several mistakes.
