Celtic Park hosts its first match since May this evening as the Hoops return home.

A lot has changed since Celtic beat Aberdeen 5-0 on the final day of last year’s Premiership campaign. We’ve lost our manager, brought back Brendan Rodgers and signed a whole host of players.

After nine weeks it will just be nice to get back to the stadium this evening. It should be a pretty good evening too, with James Forrest honoured for his years of service to the club.

The club have confirmed the run-down for the game against Athletic Club and there are a few things to note.

The recently-launched Sports Bar at Celtic Park will be open from 3:30pm until 7pm, as well as an hour after full-time.

The game is a 7:30pm kick-off, so a little earlier than a typical evening kick-off.

The club say that turnstiles have been upgraded for the new season. A further explainer article says the key difference will now see season ticket holders having to hold their card over the reader, rather than inserting it in.

Fans with print-at-home or match day tickets will still have to insert theirs.

In the lead-up to the game the big screens will show some highlights from Forrest’s glittering career in the Hoops, while the teams will also form a guard of honour for the attacker.

And, in a rare occurrence, the Celtic support will get to hear from the man himself as he speaks before the match.

So tonight should be a pretty fun one. It’ll be great to be back at the stadium, see the team in action again and appreciate James Forrest.

A win to round off pre-season would be nice too.

In other news, Rangers attacker Todd Cantwell doesn’t seem to have learned his lesson from last season despite Celtic winning a treble
