Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was videoed geeing up the support after a big 2-0 win over Ferencvaros yesterday in the Europa League.

The Greek-Australian has been connecting with the fanbase after recent away-day victories against Aberdeen and Motherwell respectively. The manager has made it a priority to go over and celebrate passionately with the travelling fans.

However, after a big win at Parkhead yesterday, it was the home support’s turn to party with the manager. And as post-match footage emerged of Ange embracing the love, the new boss was also urging them to crank up the noise in brilliant fashion:

Recent celebrations have led to an increased connection with the support undoubtedly. It’s helped the bond between the Celtic staff and its fans. Even after only a 3-match winning run, you can feel that trust returning in Postecoglou.

And it was vital he found that spark undoubtedly. You can go back to before the first win at Pittodrie and you’ll have found people who weren’t sure whether he was the right man to bring success to the football club. In fact, some were demanding a result against the Dons or else.

How he’s responded to that level of pressure has been admirable to say the least. And that response is one of the key reasons the fans have fallen back in love with him again.

Ange Postecoglou – genuinely appreciative of the Celtic support

You can always tell how appreciative and grateful the manager actually is of the support. Yesterday he had even extra reason to be too.

Celtic were given a ridiculous 3:30pm kickoff time because they couldn’t clash with the UEFA Champions League fixtures later that evening. It’s a ridiculous rule put in place by UEFA and one that needs rectifying for special situations like yesterday.

Yet despite that, there were barely any empty seats whatsoever inside Celtic Park. The atmosphere was electric as usual, making a laughing stock of the idea that there could’ve been 20,000 fans missing for this one.

As always, the Celtic support found a way to be there for their football club. But the truth is it wouldn’t have mattered if it was a 4:30am kickoff, the Celtic fans would’ve still have been there in their numbers voicing their support and encouraging their team on to victory.

It was a great performance from everyone yesterday. Postecoglou in particular can be delighted with how he managed the game from a tactical perspective. Once again, he showed fine in-game management to ease to a 2-0 win despite the immense pressure on this one.

So he has every right to take the acclaim of the support. It was more than deserved.
