The Celtic support have packed out the vast majority of Hampden this Saturday evening, enjoying the sunshine and roaring the Bhoys on to a potential victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The Green Brigade, backed by funding from the wider Celtic support, once again produced a stunning tifo in the vein of the full-stadium efforts we’ve seen at Paradise in the past. It was the largest tifo ever unveiled at the national stadium, stretching from the east to the west stand via the vast north stand.
The message read “On To Victory Once More” and it was a striking image as Ange Postecoglou’s side emerged from the tunnel for the Scottish Cup Final clash, with on the pitch flames and a wall of noise only adding to the spectacle. You can see footage from PLZ Soccer embedded below or via this link.
At the time of publishing, just before half-time, have Celtic powered to lead against the Highlanders and are 1-0 up.
Billy Dodds’ side were defending resolutely but Kyogo Furuhashi, the hero of Hampden, pounced in the 38th minute to put his side on the road to victory.
A lot is at stake for both teams, of course. The Bhoys are shooting for a world record eighth treble, while Inverness CT are hoping to pull off a massive cup shock, securing European football and a £5m windfall.
The Celtic support have been noisy throughout and backing the team well. If Postecoglou’s outfit can keep up the pressure, more chances will surely come, especially if Caley start to wilt and tire in the second half.
The champions will be in a confident mood heading into the dressing room at the interval. It’s shaping up to be the special day we all hoped it would be. And it all started with another magnificent effort from the Celtic support.
