Celtic are not used to being beaten at home.
Rangers defeated Celts 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in what was one of the most disappointing performances of the season, adding to the last derby clash they also lost 3-0 over at Ibrox.
None of the Scottish Premiership runaway leaders’ squad really acquitted themselves particularly well with perhaps only Maik Nawrocki receiving pass marks from the pundits who took in the action.
It was an uncharacteristically passive outing from Brendan Rodgers‘ side and the Celtic manager says they missed Callum McGregor and what he brings to the side in terms of influence on and off the ball.

Celtic went 35 home games without defeat in Scottish football
Losses – as painful as they can be – happen. Ultimately it’s all about how Celtic can bounce back from the result and they have shown they can do that in the past.
Recently they netted 12 goals in three matches following a 2-1 defeat to Hibs at Easter Road but their real applause-worthy run came after the last match they lost at home domestically.
Back in December 2023, Celtic were beaten 2-0 by Hearts to end what was even back then a whopping 52 match unbeaten streak on their own patch.
It was a similarly poor outing as Sunday’s performance and goals from Lawrence Shankland and Stephen Kingsley stunned the home crowd just as Nico Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Hamza Igamane did last weekend.
Celtic’s loss to Rangers should light a fire
What followed that day, however, should really terrify the rest of the Scottish top flight as it could signal another reaction from Rodgers’ troops that won’t bode well for their foes.
From 39 matches at home, only four saw points dropped with two of them being played in the Champions League against Club Brugge (1-1) and Bayern Munich (1-2). Kilmarnock and Aberdeen both held Celts to a 1-1 and 2-2 draw respectively in Scotland, but the Hoops more often than not won their ties.
It is a staggering one year and three months to go without losing in both league and cup competitions.
If Celtic can show the same sort of form following the defeat to Rangers, fans can expect more success and entertainment to come their way.
