Willie Miller isn’t having what he’s hearing from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers

As Celtic prepare for another important week in the footballing calendar, there will still be a sense of frustration from manager Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic’s 2-2 draw against Aberdeen on Saturday was entertaining for the neutral, especially given that it involved a few VAR calls.

But Aberdeen’s attacking approach against Celtic is something the champions aren’t used to, especially at Parkhead.

When Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi were wheeling away in celebration, and with it, putting the Bhoys 2-0 up in the first half, you felt that the points were only heading towards one direction.

But the away side decided to bang the door down and perhaps prove why Aberdeen are Scottish Premiership title challengers.

That doesn’t do the Celtic manager any good because, even though his side are still sitting at the top of the tree and unbeaten, that draw now ‘feels like a defeat’.

Willie Miller responds to Brendan Rodgers saying Celtic deserved to beat Aberdeen

The home side had 32 efforts on goal and over 70% possession, yet after 27 minutes, the opposition goalkeeper wasn’t picking the ball up from the back of the net again.

As you can understand, Rodgers felt the team deserved the three points, but Aberdeen legend Willie Miller told The Scottish Football Podcast that he wasn’t having it.

“No, not really,” responded Miller on if he goes along with Rodgers that Celtic deserved to win. “I think they created a number of opportunities, but Aberdeen had that goal chalked off.

“It kind of bypassed Brendan in the interview. It was very marginal as well. Yes, they had plenty of chances. You expect Celtic to create chances. But Aberdeen stood firm. Duk makes a great block. Mitov fantastic saves. Hey, that’s what they are there to do, particularly goalkeepers make good saves at Celtic Park.

“I just thought it was refreshing. You have to give Jimmy Thelin, and this Aberdeen team, a huge amount of credit, for coming down here and making a real toe-to-toe game of it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am still shaking, by the way. I need a glass of rosé wine, just to calm down. A fantastic game of football.”

Kris Boyd’s mixed afternoon as Celtic draw and then Rangers lose

Rangers were beaten at Kilmarnock 24 hours later and now they are six points behind the top two in the Premiership.

But if you listened to Kris Boyd’s Celtic and Aberdeen comments before Rangers’ defeat, then you would you would have thought otherwise.

It was a humbling afternoon for the former striker and the Bhoys are getting a title challenge.

But just like in previous years, it won’t be from Rangers. If Aberdeen can maintain this, then it does add that extra flavour and spice to proceedings.
