‘Wow’… BBC pundit brutally exposes Celtic quartet with embarrassing stat vs Braga

BBC journalist Tom English produced a shocking stat that embarrassed four Celtic stars at half-time vs Braga.

The Hoops faced the Portuguese side in the Europa League on Thursday with the hope of securing their first three points of the campaign.

But Braga ran away with a deserved 2-0 victory as Celtic put in their worst performance of the season so far – arguably worse than both Kairat Almaty games.

Braga went into the break 1-0 up and bar Sebastian Tounekti, Celtic in a midfield and attacking sense were totally woeful.

Tom English’s brutal Celtic quartet stat vs Braga

English was asked at half-time in the BBC Sportsound studio by host Kenny Macintyre for his thoughts on Celtic’s first-half display.

And he revealed that four Celtic players – Kelechi Iheanacho, Benjamin Nygren, Paulo Bernardo and Daizen Maeda – did not touch the ball once in Braga’s box.

English: “It’s been really, really poor. Really slow, pedestrian, not threatening. Iheanacho, Maeda, Nygren and Bernardo have had a total – between the four of them – of zero touches in the opposition box.”

MacIntyre: “Wow.”

English: “Zero touches.”

James McFadden stunned by Kelechi Iheanacho’s disallowed goal

Former Scotland star James McFadden was also in the BBC Sportsound studio and gave his reaction to Iheanacho’s disallowed goal decision.

VAR chalked the equalising goal off because they deemed Iheanacho to have handled the ball on his way towards goal.

Replays show that the ball definitely hits his head, but there’s no clear evidence that it comes off the Nigerian’s arm.

The UEFA officials claimed there was a slight brush of the arm off the ball, but McFadden simply could not identify the contact.

After Mcintyre said he couldn’t see a handball offence, McFadden replied: “I can’t either.”

“For the referee to give it, I don’t even know how good a position he’s in to see it. From every angle I’ve looked at, it comes off his forehead.”
