‘Write both squads down’ – BBC man puts Rangers fans back in check with ‘superior’ Celtic truth

Rangers fans have been crowing ever since their win at Celtic Park on Sunday.

And who can blame them? Before the Celtic Park clash, the Ibrox club had been victorious in just one out of the last eight Glasgow Derby’s with the Hoops putting them in their place in two cup finals to boot.

But after Rangers beat Celtic 3-2 in Paradise, the Ibrox support have the bragging rites for now and boy, are they not just milking it for every penny it’s worth?

However, it seems that they have been brought crashing back down to earth after BBC man Rory Loy said that despite the win, the Celtic first-team squad is still ‘superior’ to anything Barry Ferguson has at his disposal right now.

Celtic’s squad is ‘superior’ to Rangers’ with Rodgers labelled ‘extremely talented’

The BBC pundit was picking over the bones of the big game when he said that Celtic really don’t have anything to worry about after the defeat on Sunday.

Loy told The Scottish Football Podcast, [8m] “I think from Celtic’s point of view, they need to just concentrate on the fact that if you write both squads down, Celtic do have the superior squad.

“They’ve got an extremely talented manager as well. So I think ahead of the trip to Ibrox, I think Brendan Rodgers will work hard on what formation he’s going to go with. For me, I think he probably got it wrong.

“I think Maeda probably should have started on the sides, as was evident in the second half. So look, I think a little bit of fine-tuning ahead of the trip to Ibrox. They’ll probably have a better understanding of what Rangers are going to do.”

Celtic are still ‘the best team in the country by a mile’

With Celtic on the brink of their ninth-domestic treble, Loy also pointed out that whilst Rangers recorded their second derby win in a row, Rodgers won’t be too concerned considering their dominant domestic position right now.

Loy continued, “But overall, I don’t think he’ll be too concerned. You know, they’re in a fantastic position. They’ve been the best team in the country by a mile.

“They’ve got some great players. So I think it’s just a case of trying to get it right on the day when it comes to the next Old F-rm.”

Celtic can win the league against Kilmarnock the week before the split but the Hoops boss will need Rangers to drop more points.

The likelihood is that the title will be won during the split so until then the Celtic fans will need to sit tight.

With Hearts up next, Celtic can take another step closer to the title and heal the pain of the derby defeat with a big win over Neil Critchley’s side at Celtic Park.
