Football fans are set to return to the Scottish Premiership, but sadly not at Celtic Park, where the agonising wait for fans to return to the stadium is set to go on for a while yet.
BBC Sport reports that the Scottish Government has allowed Ross County permission for up to 300 fans to attend their game against Livingston on Friday night.
Second time this season fans can attend Victoria Park
That is the second time this season that fans can attend games at Victoria Park. The first was back in September, when 300 fans attended Celtic’s visit to Dingwall. The only other game to have fans attend it in Scotland this season was Aberdeen’s game against Kilmarnock in September. That also had 300 attendees.
The reason that County can have fans attend the game is that they fall into Tier 1 of the Scottish Government’s five tier system.
Limited numbers of fans can attend sporting events in a Tier 1 situation. Unfortunately, Glasgow is currently in Tier 3, so the chances of fans returning to Celtic Park is remote for the moment.
It is not often that Celtic fans might feel envious of their Ross County counterparts. However, this could be that very rare occasion.
Hoops have been thwarted by Government
It is has been a truly disappointing situation for the support, when it comes to getting fans back into the stadium. Celtic have been thwarted at every turn. The Hoops wanted a small number of fans to attend the game against Motherwell back in August, but that was rejected by the Scottish Government.

It has now been eight months since fans were last at Celtic Park. The last game to have support in the stadium was the 5-0 win over St Mirren back at the start of March.
Now there has to be a doubt that fans will be able to return to the stadium at all in the year 2020. Unless Glasgow gets into Tier 1, then a small number of fans could return. Still, Celtic will just have to keep winning on the pitch, and hope that 10 in a row is in sight when supporters can return to the stadium.
In other news, some Celtic fans love a new banner unveiled by the Green Brigade.
