Tierney signed a pre-contract deal with the Hoops in January 2025 after deciding to run down his contract at Arsenal.
The full-back was slowly reintroduced and had his minutes managed, which led to some frustration from supporters.

Kieran Tierney should be Celtic’s next captain
Callum McGregor doesn’t look like he will be retiring anytime soon, but the 32-year-old will one day hang his boots up.
That will come before Tierney finishes his playing days, and it seems obvious that he is the perfect player to take on the responsibility as captain.
As a boyhood fan who has come through the academy, he knows what it means to play for the club and would also wear his heart on his sleeve.
Tierney is also a well-respected figure in the dressing room and commands instant respect. It feels like a matter of when, not if, this happens.
