Celtic’s Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen has thrown up all kinds of weird and wonderful headlines.
A lot has been said about Celtic supporters being complacent heading into the final and some media outlets have labelled them as entitled after the cup final defeat.
Of course, those claims are a load of nonsense. Some fans may have felt like this heading into the Hampden final but the vast majority of Celtic supporters knew the Scottish Cup final would have been tight.
Celtic were dominant but still lost to Aberdeen on penalties after being 1-0 up and coasting. With only two shots on goal, the Pittodrie club equalised to send the game into extra time and the rest, as they say, is history.
67 Hail Hail was invited onto BBC Sportsound this weekend to discuss the big game and when we heard what an Aberdeen fan claimed about beating Celtic in regulation time ‘if they had to’, I couldn’t sit there and say nothing.

Aberdeen fan makes strange Celtic Scottish Cup claim
I [Patrick Sinat] was asked by Tom English if Brendan Rodgers got his Celtic starting line-up wrong but prior to the question, an Aberdeen fan [Gary] claimed that if his team needed to score if the Hoops took the lead again, they ‘definitely’ would have done so.
I told BBC Sportsound, “There’s an argument that Forrest could have started ahead of Kuhn. There was a lot of talk about that before the game amongst a lot of fans.
“But no, I mean, look, hindsight is amazing. If you looked at that starting line-up at any other point this season, you would say that team would beat any in the Scottish League. It’s a cup final. These things happen.
“I don’t agree with the Aberdeen fan that said, if they wanted another goal they would have scored it because they were nowhere near our goal for the whole 90 minutes or 120 minutes.
Gary: “Hold on, hold on, Dante Polvara hit it over the bar.”
Sinat: “That was over the bar, not on target.”
Gary: “They should have scored as well.”
Sinat: “Is that it?”
English: “A shot over the bar, I think that was it.”
Sinat: “Ok, a shot off target, and then a cross-cum-shot, I’ll give you that. But I’m not going to sit here and deny Aberdeen didn’t deserve the win, because for people who say that they set up defensively and it was anti-football, that’s what wins games.
“Celtic have done that on the continent against this season against Atalanta. So I’ve got no issue with that.”
67 Hail Hail defends Celtic fans over claims of complacency vs Aberdeen
The narrative that the Celtic supporters at Hampden thought that all the team had to do was turn up to win was next on 67 Hail Hail’s list.
To tar the whole Celtic support with that brush was not on and I decided to address that on the show and said, “Aberdeen deserved to win it, we didn’t. We never turned up. So I’ve got no hard feelings about that, and over the course of one game, anything can happen.
“I suppose we were probably confident in the fact that we scored 19 goals this season against Aberdeen and maybe some people may have thought it was a shoo-in.
“But, certainly not a lot of Celtic fans thought it was a shoo-in, I can guarantee you that.”
The Scottish Cup defeat was a sore one to take. For Celtic to end a successful season so disappointingly is what hurts the support.
Celtic fans are not entitled for their reaction to the loss. Their disappointment and anger is what sets the standards at the club.
It’s just a pity that people outside of Celtic fail to see that simple fact.
