Wilfried Nancy is under more pressure right now than any other new Celtic manager in recent memory.
The Frenchman has lost three of his first games as Nancy becomes the first-ever Celtic manager to record a winless starting run of two games or more in the history of the club.
Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup final defeat to St Mirren has piled a heap of incredible pressure on Nancy ahead of tonight’s game at Dundee United.

And speaking to USA legend Eric Wynalda, 67 Hail Hail responded when the 100-cap former striker asked if Celtic will sack Nancy if they lose to Dundee United tonight at Tannadice.

The Celtic board problem that makes Wilfried Nancy’s job safe
As every Celtic supporter knows, the Parkhead board have blamed Brendan Rodgers for causing division at the club.
Despite saying they ‘made mistakes’ in pre-recorded interviews prior to the Celtic AGM, the board never admitted to what those mistakes actually were.
And that is one of the reasons we pointed out as to why Nancy will not be sacked if Celtic lose to Dundee United tonight.
So when Eric Wynalda asked if Celtic will sack Nancy if a defeat happens at Tannadice, I told the WTF Football show on SiriusXM FC radio, “I mean, there’s two nuances to that. I think in any other time you would probably find a Celtic manager would possibly lose their job, but it is unheard of at our club.
“I think the only time we’ve sacked a manager during the season, if I remember right, [prior to Neil Lennon in 2019], was Tony Mowbray and that was back in 2010.
“So it’s not something the board kind of do. But then the problem that the Celtic board have, they’re obviously at loggerheads with the fans right now.
“I don’t know if you guys know that the Celtic fans are taking action against the board to force change at the club, because we’re not happy with the direction the club’s going despite the domestic success the Celtic fans have witnessed has been excellent, second to none.
“But then if the board do sack him then they need to admit they’ve made a mistake, and the Celtic board aren’t very good at doing that at the moment. That’s the problem we have at the moment.”
When Celtic could sack Wilfried Nancy if results don’t pick up
So if a defeat in Tayside isn’t the catalyst for Nancy’s dismissal, when could he face the chop if results don’t start to pick up?
I continued, “So I personally don’t think he’ll get sacked if he loses at Dundee United, I think he’ll get probably up until the Rangers game and see where we are from there.
Does Wilfried Nancy have the belief of the Celtic players?
“A lot of fans will want to give him time. All the fans were behind him when he first got hired. Obviously, before he was hired, questions were asked, but whenever a Celtic manager comes in, regardless of who you are, the fans are behind him 100%.
“But I think with the way the team’s playing, how he’s deploying the personnel he’s got, and then the results, patience is running out for many Celtic supporters.”
Tonight’s game is a must-win. There are no two ways about it. Nancy cannot afford another slip up and he must ensure all three points are brought back to Celtic Park.
Because if Nancy records a fourth defeat in a row, the patience of almost every Celtic supporter will have run out, making his position at the club almost untenable.
