Not many would have predicted 12 months ago that Adam Idah and Kyogo Furuhashi wouldn’t be playing for Celtic right now.
Even fewer would have backed a situation where the former Celtic duo are now playing in the English Championship for Swansea City and Birmingham City, respectively.
Whilst Kyogo joined Birmingham indirectly from Celtic, after leaving for Rennes during the January transfer window, the Republic of Ireland star left during the 2025 summer transfer window.
But on Saturday afternoon, Idah did the simple thing that Kyogo, amazingly enough, is yet to achieve in the Championship, and that’s find the back of the net.

‘No doubts’ about Adam Idah at Swansea City after Celtic exit
Even though Swansea were beaten 3-1 by one of the Championship favourites, Leicester City, Idah did come off the bench, equalise from the spot after 70 minutes, only for his teammates to concede two further goals.
This also comes after Idah made a positive impact from the bench, by setting up a goal in midweek during Swansea’s win over Blackburn Rovers.
Whilst Idah is getting plaudits from his manager Alan Sheehan, including how they had ‘no doubts’ about the player, the same can’t be said for Kyogo, who, after eight league matches, still can’t find a goal.
“There are some positives (Idah’s goal). I hate losing,” Sheehan told Wales Online. “I really do. We’ve not lost a whole lot. So, it is disappointing. Right now, when it’s emotional, and it’s right here. It’s hard to see, but I do feel we are progressing.
“Adam Idah comes on, sets up the goal the other night to win us the game, and then obviously comes on to get his first goal. So, we’re delighted, but we never had a doubt.
“We know the players we have, and we know what they want to give us, but obviously really happy for Adam to get that first goal.”
How Idah reacted on Instagram to his first Swansea goal
It was a brutal ending for Idah at Celtic, because it didn’t seem as though he wanted to leave, but the offer was there on the table, and he was a player who was dividing opinions.
Idah’s last game was Celtic’s Champions League exit to Kaiat Almaty, but he still provided many great moments for the Hoops, and it’s also good to see the player himself feeling like he is taking steps forward again.
‘Disappointed with the result today, especially after a strong week,’ wrote Idah on Instagram.
‘But personally so proud to have got my first goal for the club. See you after the break.’
