Adam Idah is certainly a player who split the opinion of Celtic supporters.
The big Irishman made a storming start to his Celtic career when Idah arrived at Parkhead on loan in 2024.
Two winning penalties in a high-pressured finale in Edinburgh put Idah on the map as Celtic beat Hibs on his debut.
However, after just one permanent full season, Idah left Celtic for Swansea and Hoops hero Pat Bonner wanted to point out something about the Irishman’s Parkhead exit.

Pat Bonner tells Celtic fans Adam Idah ‘did not want to go’
Idah is now officially a Swansea player as he embarks on the next stage of his career away from Celtic in the English Championship.
However, if it was left up to the Irish international, Idah would still be at Celtic as Bonner reveals how he really felt about his Parkhead exit.
Bonner said on BBC Radio Scotland, “By the way, Adam Idah didn’t want to go. Adam did not want to go.
“Adam Idah was let go because Celtic got a decent fee for him.
“And to be honest, I think if he was still here, he scored 20 last year, and that’s a decent return for a player who people think isn’t good enough.
“And imagine him and Iheanacho now fighting for that number one spot, or coming off the bench and one playing and one not playing, or whatever.
“I think that would have been a really good competition for very similar type players. But just to point that out, Adam Idah did not want to go.”
Bonner was fuming speaking about Idah’s departure from Celtic after watching his old club toil to find the back of the net for the fourth time this season against SC Braga.
Adam Idah’s Swansea stats after Celtic exit
Would Idah really have made a difference for Brendan Rodgers and Celtic against Braga? We will never know now.
But what Celtic fans can look at is what he has done since he left Celtic for Swansea in the summer transfer window as Idah’s Fotmob stats show that even he may not have helped last night:
- Appearances: 4
- Minutes: 79
- Average rating: 6.21
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 1
- Starts: 1
Idah is clearly struggling at Swansea just as he did at Celtic and it’s clear his confidence has taken a big hit. Would he have made a difference at Celtic Park against Braga?
It’s very, very doubtful.
