Adam Idah has had his fair share of critics during his first season at Celtic.
The Irishman had a storming six months on loan from Norwich City in the second-half of the 2023/24 season in which he helped Celtic win the league title and the Scottish Cup against Rangers.
Idah smashed in nine goals in 19 appearances, mostly from the substitute’s bench, and that convinced Brendan Rodgers to hand over £8.5m of Celtic’s cash to Norwich City to make the 23-year-old’s move to Parkhead permanent.
Playing second fiddle to Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda last season, Idah scored 20 goals in 53 appearances but still had people criticising his contribution to Celtic’s double-winning season.
And here, the Republic of Ireland international defends his first full year at the club with a brilliant message to the Celtic supporters.

Adam Idah admits he can ‘improve’ at Celtic with a message to the fans
It’s no secret that Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in another striker at Celtic but Idah has a message for the fans and the Hoops manager that he can be the main man at Parkhead.
Idah told the Daily Record, “I thought it was a really good season.
“Obviously, the end didn’t go our way, but personally I thought I had a good season.
“Of course, there can be a lot to improve on. But I think from my first full season at Celtic, it’s been really good to return 20 goals.
“I don’t think that’s easy at such a big club. Scoring in the Champions League and all sorts is really good stuff for me, so I’m really looking forward to my next season.
“It was my first full season being the number nine at Celtic.
“There were a lot of things that I learnt over the course of that season, which I can hopefully bring into this season, so I’m really looking forward to going into the new one now.”
With a promise to get better and score more goals next season, it will be interesting (and exciting) to see if Idah can top the 20 goals he scored in his first full year at the club should he get more starts under Rodgers.
Just how good is Adam Idah’s goalscoring Celtic record?
Idah is under the microscope mainly because Celtic paid a hefty price for him. That’s not the player’s fault and 20 goals is nothing to be sniffed at.
But just how good is the Hoops star’s scoring record? Let’s take a look:
| Adam Idah goals | Played | Minutes | Goals | Goals per minute |
| Season 2023/24 | 19 | 809 | 9 | 1 every 90 minutes |
| Season 2024/25 | 53 | 2372 | 20 | 1 every 118 minutes |
Not a bad goal ratio considering Idah has to come onto the field of play cold from the bench most matches.
The coming season will be big for Idah and if he comes up with more than the 20 goals he scored last season, what a way that would be to silence his Celtic critics.
