Adam Idah shares what was ‘strange’ about scoring a brace to help Celtic win the title at Tannadice

It has been a strong number of weeks for Adam Idah in the colours of Celtic.

This shouldn’t be a surprise because this correlates with the Republic of Ireland star’s minutes increasing under Brendan Rodgers.

On April 26, Celtic thrashed Dundee United at Tannadice to secure the Premiership title for the 2024/25 season, including a fourth in a row.

A Ryan Strain own goal, a brace from Nicolas Kuhn, and two goals from Idah sealed the deal for the Scottish champions.

The campaign as a whole has been interesting for Idah, because he has been in and out of the XI, including at Dundee United last month.

The 24-year-old explained how he felt for that title-winning game.

Adam Idah states what was ‘strange’ about scoring a double to help Celtic win the title at Dundee United

Idah didn’t start at Dundee United, but then Jota suffered a first-half injury, which has since proven to be far worse because he is expected to be out of action for the rest of the year.

Celtic’s back-up striker admitted it was ‘strange’ because he ‘didn’t expect to come on’ so early, after replacing Jota in the 35th minute, as he told Celtic TV.

But he shared how it was an ‘amazing feeling’ to push that title over the line for the club, and it’s something that will ‘never change’.

“Yeah, it was amazing,” said Idah. “To be honest, it was a bit of a strange one for me because I wasn’t expected to come on. It was unfortunate what happened to Jota.

“But, for me, it was really nice to get the two goals. It’s almost like I have a habit of doing it now. I did it last year. It’s strange.

“Overall, to win the league is an amazing feeling. It’s why you come to Celtic, you want to win as many trophies as you can, so that feeling will never change.”

Idah’s five best-rated performances this season

In total, Idah has 19 goals in all competitions this term, but has only played 2,231 minutes, so it’s a respectable return.

It also needs to be noted that being in and out of the XI doesn’t help a player’s rhythm, especially for a striker, and one with a heavy price tag over his head.

Against Dundee United, Idah was rated at 7.89 by WhoScored, and it was one of his highest-rated performances this term.
