Celtic striker Albian Ajeti has credited Neil Lennon with giving him his confidence back as he claims that he’s “smiling every day” at Parkhead.
Ajeti has started his career in Glasgow superbly. He has three goals in three domestic matches to his name, with two coming from the bench.
The manager has started to show more trust in the Swiss forward in recent weeks, with Ajeti managing to bag his first start for the club on Saturday when he played alongside Odsonne Edouard in Dingwall.
And the former West Ham man believes that Lennon has brought his confidence back after crucial talks with him.
As quoted by the Scotsman, Ajeti said: “I didn’t have to prove anything because I didn’t get a lot of chances last year, but I was just happy that I could sign for Celtic. I had good conversations with the gaffer [Neil Lennon], he gave me good confidence, the confidence back I didn’t have in West Ham.
“This is for me important, to have a good relationship with the gaffer and team. That is why I’m very happy to be here. I feel very comfortable and this is then the result of it.
“I am smiling every day. I was smiling every day at West Ham as well, but it’s not the same when you are not playing. Now I’m playing and I am happy and I could not have imagined a better move than to Celtic.”
Can Ajeti emulate terrific Scott Sinclair run?
67HailHail writer John Reid spoke after Saturday’s match in Dingwall about how Ajeti is currently emulating former Invincible Scott Sinclair’s run of consecutive goals after signing for the club.
In total, Sinclair scored six goals in his first six league matches for the Hoops – one in each fixture. Ajeti is already half-way to doing just that and he’s only been given one start too.
Next up for him is a trip to St Mirren tonight in Paisley, and you just can’t see the game going by without the Swiss forward finding the net again. That’s the kind of scintillating form he’s in at the moment.
Of course, that all depends on whether Lennon decides to throw him in. Considering he started on Saturday and there remains question marks about his fitness levels, it could be that the manager gives him some recovery time and puts him on the bench.
But supporters will want to see a development of this exciting-looking partnership between Ajeti and Odsonne Edouard. The duo linked up extremely well at Ross County on Saturday, and a similar display from both will keep Celtic’s good form going.
Regardless of the starting XI tonight, however, Ajeti has started his Celtic career off in convincing fashion.
