Celtic defender Alistair Johnston isn’t a shy man and after today’s Scottish League Cup victory at Hampden gave a superb on-the-mic address to fans enjoying hospitality.
Johnston stood up to the task of defending well against Rangers, especially in the second half when they really tried to push for an equaliser. Alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starelt, he was instrumental in the cup win.
And after the game, he made it clear to fans that he wants more success this season.

Speaking to fans after the game, Johnston said, as shared by Twitter user @stephebissett: “This one’s for you guys. The passion at this club, it runs so deep. You can see it everywhere. The support we had there today was special.
“Everyone stayed an hour after the final whistle to cheer on every little celebration. It was pretty cool. We’re super excited to bring this one home.
“This is our first trophy of the year, it’s not our last either. It’s nice in February to already have one in the trophy case.”
The audience can be heard roaring with approval at the ‘not our last’ comments, as fans anticipate continued success before the end of the season.
The Bhoys are currently nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with 12 games remaining. They’ve also progressed into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Ange Postecoglou will be stressing there is lots of hard work ahead to deliver either of those trophies but undoubtedly supporters have been left dreaming after today’s League Cup win.
Johnston will be an integral part of delivering any joy, based on his performances in recent weeks.
