It was a day of celebrations for Celtic on Saturday.
For 14 out of the last 15 seasons, Celtic have enjoyed trophy day, but could that St Mirren game be the final home game for certain players?
Greg Taylor started at left-back, after recently winning back his place in Brendan Rodgers’ XI from January recruit, Jeffrey Schlupp.
The future of Celtic’s starting full-back has been a long topic of discussion all season long, especially with his contract due to expire in the summer.
But there has been no confirmation from Taylor himself, the club, or the Celtic manager about what will happen.
Perhaps some of the answers lie in Taylor’s social media post?!

Celtic heroes react to Greg Taylor’s Instagram post
First and foremost, Taylor’s Instagram post is quite telling, especially given the tense in which he is speaking.
Taylor wrote on his socials, ‘Lived it and Loved’, added with a heart and trophy emoji, including the player lifting the 2024/25 Premiership title.
Then, in the comments section of Taylor’s IG post, Joe Hart wrote ‘quality’, including Alistair Johnston posting a gif of a young kid crying, seemingly referring to the fact that this could be the end for the Scotland international.
Celtic’s left-backs for the 2025/26 season?
It has been well-documented that Kieran Tierney will return to Celtic in the summer, and he played his final home game for Arsenal on Sunday.
The Celtic hero was given a standing ovation from the Emirates crowd as he came onto the field of play.
But Rodgers can’t go into next season with Tierney as his only bona fide left-back, and it will be interesting to see what happens with Schlupp.
Celtic don’t usually sign outfield players over 30 on permanent deals, but could they make an exception for Schlupp, who is also out of contract in the summer at Crystal Palace, because they now know what he is all about?!
| Tournament | Apps | Mins | Goals | Assists | MotM | Schlupp’s WhoScored Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Champions League | 1(1) | 115 | – | – | – | 7.09 |
| Premiership | 7(6) | 687 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 6.85 |
