Ally McCoist says his ‘heart is broken’ at strength of Celtic compared to Rangers this season

Now that Celtic have recorded their second win of the new league season, former Rangers striker, Ally McCoist has admitted that Brendan Rodgers’ team has already left him feeling broken-hearted.

The opening weekend saw Celtic hammer Kilmarnock 4-0 at Parkhead after goals from four different scorers helped take care of the Ayrshire club with ease.

A tougher test faced Celtic in the capital with a visit to Easter Road to take on Hibs yesterday afternoon but two early first-half goals put the Hoops in a commanding position and the Parkhead club saw out the game 2-0 with ease.

And speaking to Jim White, Ally McCoist admits that what he’s seen from Celtic this season has already left him feeling gutted.

McCoist believes Celtic will ‘romp’ the title

White was speaking about the weekend results in the SPFL and asked McCoist after watching Celtic beat Hibs, if there was any other outcome than the Bhoys winning the league title again.

White said [talkSPORT], “In Scotland, it’s so early on in the season is there anything to tell us that anything is going to happen up there other than Celtic are going to romp it.”

Clearly sounding defeated, McCoist agreed with White’s assertion and admitted that it broke his heart to admit it.

McCoist replied, “It certainly looks that way. Think it’s absolutely vital for Rangers to get something or a result against Dynamo Kyiv to give them the opportunity to get into the Champions League.

“But at this moment in time, it breaks my heart saying it obviously, but you can’t see anything other than that.”

Celtic’s form should worry rivals

With Brendan Rodgers still to add more new faces to the Celtic team, our rivals already have plenty to worry about.

Nicolas Kuhn looks a far better player than he did last season and is now showing exactly why Rodgers splashed out £3m for him in January.

The addition of Kasper Schmeichel to replace Joe Hart looks inspiring as the Dane is already a huge hit with the Celtic fans.

And with goals coming from every area of the pitch, Celtic are looking very dangerous even at this early stage of the season.

Whilst Celtic fans will not be getting carried away just yet, what they have seen from their team now will leave them feeling excited for the season ahead.

And if Rodgers manages to get the players he wants to strengthen the team it’s little wonder McCoist feels the way he is at the moment.
