Ally McCoist has shared his thoughts on how the race for the Scottish Premiership is likely to go after watching Celtic and Rangers drop points this weekend.

For the first time in years, both Glasgow clubs suffered defeat on the same weekend and it has left everyone guessing who is going to take the initiative in the title race this season.

Former Rangers hero, Ally McCoist, has delivered his take on how he thinks the race for the Scottish Premiership is going to go and he thinks there is still plenty of life in this season yet.

McCoist said [talkSPORT], “I’m telling you right now, I don’t think you can put your hand on your heart and be convinced about Celtic or Rangers winning all their games at this moment in time.

“There’s a split. There are four games to come before the split, which will be important. And then the split will be even more important to see what happens.

“I mean, they’re already talking about Rangers having to go to Kilmarnock again. Again Alan!

“So, I mean, no matter what happens, we’ll all be moaning about something. Whether it’s the Rangers fans or the Celtic fans, we’ll be moaning about something.

“I just think, and I’ve said it before, I don’t know whether the teams are as strong as they have been recently, but one thing, it will go to the wire. Definitely.”

This is an interesting take from McCoist. With two Glasgow Derby’s left to go, a lot hinges on what will happen specifically on the Ibrox fixture on the 7th of April.

Plus, Celtic lost on Sunday due to VAR errors, not a poor performance. The Hoops had just found their groove with impressive wins over Motherwell and Dundee.

Rangers on the other hand lost when they had the opportunity, at home, to put pressure on Celtic and go five points clear. They failed to do that and failed with a poor performance to boot.

If Rangers win it, and assuming both clubs win their fixtures between now and then, Celtic will find it extremely difficult to claw back a five-point deficit in the split.

However, if Celtic come up trumps again at Ibrox it will be a huge psychological blow to Rangers and the lift Brendan Rodgers‘ side will get would be huge.

Will the title go right to the wire? I think the next four fixtures for both clubs will have a huge say in the title race and it may well not go right to the last game of the season.
