Ally McCoist can’t believe what Alan Brazil has said about Celtic’s Tynecastle referee

As the Celtic VAR controversy continues this week, Brendan Rodgers is coming to terms with losing his appeal on Hyunjun Yang’s red card and dealing with the prospect of losing his in-form winger for three crucial fixtures.

The South Korean saw red for a dangerous challenge and Celtic were also penalised with a dubious penalty decision whilst down to ten men that effectively ended Rodgers’ hopes of taking anything from Tynecastle.

Who knows what Celtic will do now but it is fair to say that on current form, VAR seems to be doing more damage than good.

And whilst the fans and pundits have their say on the decisions in the game, talkSPORT presenter, Alan Brazil, went that little bit further.

Discussing the game on Sunday, Brazil made a quip about Tynecastle referee, Don Robertson, that left co-presenter, Ally McCoist shocked.

This is how the conversation went on this morning’s edition of talkSPORT:

McCoist: “Look at last weekend with Rangers losing at home to Motherwell and then Celtic getting beat at Tynecastle.

”I definitely think there is going to be twists and turns.”

Brazil: “Man of the match the ref, eh?”

McCoist: “Aww wait a minute Alan! Come on!”

Clearly, Brazil was having a joking dig at the referee but on some level, this comment will resonate with many Celtic fans.

VAR was introduced to reduce the amount of mistakes made in the Scottish game and it seems that since it was introduced, it’s just causing more problems.

And it’s not just Celtic who have in issue with it. Over the past few months, Rangers, Aberdeen, Motherwell and others in the SPFL have voiced their concerns and the SFA will need to listen up.

Because the product they are delivering is hurting the game and it’s member clubs and fans are not happy.
