Ally McCoist is the latest pundit to share his opinion on Celtic’s decision to spend £9.5m on Norwich City striker, Adam Idah.

Both clubs have finally found common ground over the Republic of Ireland striker and subject to passing a medical, Adam Idah will become Celtic’s fourth summer signing.

Chris Sutton has already hailed the agreement as ‘a very good move’ for all parties concerned and next up, Ally McCoist shares what he thinks of Celtic spending £9.5m on the 23-year-old.

Celtic have ‘overpaid’ for Adam Idah

McCoist delivered his initial reaction to the news this morning and the former Rangers striker believes that Brendan Rodgers has ‘overpaid’ for the international striker.

McCoist said [talkSPORT], “I think it is a good signing. I think it is a good signing, I do. He scores goals.

“It is a lot of money, it is a lot of money, but at the same time, they could recoup it if he scores goals and he wins you the league and he gets you back into Champions League football.

“That’s the way you have got to look at it. I would say maybe slightly overpaid, but good player and I think he will do well.”

Celtic pay the price for quality

Since last summer, Brendan Rodgers has been banging the drum about bringing in quality to help improve the Celtic first-team.

The fact that Luis Palma is the only signing from eight made last summer that was heavily involved in Celtic’s season last year tells a story in itself.

Idah was brought to Celtic in January and has proven that he can handle playing in the green and white Hoops. The 23-year-old has also made his mark on the international stage with the Republic of Ireland and is now a regular starter.

Overpaid? I think Celtic have made a shrewd investment here and have signed a player who will help bring much more success to the club in the future.
