Hyeongyu Oh has had a whirlwind seven days after making the trip from South Korea to sign for Celtic and appear in his club debut away to Dundee United yesterday.

Ange Postecoglou wasted no time in exposing the new striker to Scottish Premiership action despite only taking part in a few training sessions at Lennoxtown. The Celtic support are already enjoying the presence of the 21-year-old and gave him a fantastic reception in the Tannadice win.

Taking to Instagram after his big moment, Oh said: “Thank you for your support! I’m happy to make a debut! Amazing Fans 💚🤍💚 See you at home 👋🍀”

It’s obviously way, way too early to make definitive verdicts on the Oh signing. However, he did look sharp in his initial ten minutes for the Bhoys and should be ready to compete for plenty of minutes this season.

He clearly possesses good strength and pace, with quick reactions and clever runs also evident.

The forward could have even had an assist with an incredibly dangerous ball into the Dundee United box late on, which Daizen Maeda should have converted.

Given Postecoglou’s desire to embed him immediately, the chances of him getting more exposure to the first team in Wednesday night’s match at home to Livingston are strong.

As he gets more and more up to speed, he will likely also be used as a starting rotation option to give Kyogo Furuhashi a rest from time to time.

Fans are eager to see him get to grips with Scottish football and once his first goal goes there will be a great moment of unity if the initial scenes of his rapport with the support are anything to go by.
