Former Celtic coach Chris Davies will be part of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching team at Tottenham Hotspur.

Davies, who worked in Glasgow from 2016 to 2019, has been named as Senior Assistant Coach by Spurs. (Tottenham Hotspur)

Also announced today by the Premier League side were Mile Jedinak and Rob Burch.

While this news hardly matters to the Celtic support, with most of us now moving on from the Postecoglou days, it is still an amusing scenario to see Davies join Spurs.

The Englishman was Brendan Rodgers‘ number two during his first spell in Glasgow. He also worked with our current boss at Swansea City, Liverpool and Leicester City.

A matter of months ago, the pair were in the midst of a relegation dogfight with the Foxes. At the same time, Postecoglou was on the road to a treble in Scotland with John Kennedy by his side.

Now, it’s Kennedy who is with Rodgers in Glasgow, while Postecoglou and Davies are colleagues down south.

It’s strange the way things work out sometimes.

A meeting between Celtic and Spurs would be a pretty weird scenario for all concerned.

However, we’ll have to wait until the 2024/25 season at least due to the London side not being in Europe this coming season.

It will be interesting to see how Postecoglou and Davies get on in London.

But that will just be a passing interest at most for Celtic fans. It’s all about what happens at Celtic Park.
