Former Celtic striker turned Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker is firmly against Celtic being docked points for the recent Boli Bolingoli saga, Sky Sports reports.

The Hoops were recently charged by the SPFL after Bolingoli’s now infamous trip to Spain. The Hoops could be hit very hard by the charge, with the likes of Kris Boyd in The Scottish Sun calling for the club to be docked points.

However, Walker believes that such a move would be the wrong one for Scottish football to go down. He also states that clubs should not be made to pay for the actions of their players.

“Bizarre and ridiculous”

“What a bizarre and ridiculous route to go down that would be” Walker said writing in his Sky Sports column, with regard to docking points.

“Docking points from clubs for the lack of individual responsibility expected of professional footballers is a dangerous road to go down. There’s a danger here that the punishment towards the clubs and the players could be entirely unreasonable. Docking points from any club is absurd” he concluded.

Fans will agree with pundit comments

Is Andy Walker the most popular figure amongst the Celtic support? Probably not. However, every Celtic fan will be in agreement with his comments on the docked points scenario.

There is no way that Celtic should be docked points following the actions of one individual.

Will the Hoops be fined for the Bolingoli incident? Quite possibly. That still wouldn’t be ideal. However, it makes more sense that taking points away from the club, if the SPFL want to look strong.

Therefore, Celtic will be hoping that the SPFL make their decision on the Bolingoli situation soon. That would mean that the club can move on from the affair, which did derail the start of the 10 in a row campaign.

The Hoops have returned to action on the pitch. Now is the time to focus on what is important. That is winning 10 in a row and qualifying for the Champions League.

In other news, James Forrest is hoping for a unique 10 in a row celebration at the end of the season.
