Kenny Dalglish says Celtic fans have bought “thousands of tickets” for a charity match at Anfield later this month.
On March 25, a team of Celtic Legends will take on their Liverpool counterparts in a bid to raise money for both club’s foundations.
Dalglish is a legend at both Celtic Park and Anfield, and will be in the dugout as manager of the Reds in just over a fortnight.
And he’s expecting a large number of Celtic supporters to make the trip down to Liverpool, despite it being a charity match for former players.
Speaking to the official Liverpool website, he said: “You mentioned Celtic fans earlier, they’ve sold thousands of tickets and we’ve sold a few as well.
“So, there’s plenty of time to pass from here until the 25th and I’m sure there will be a lot of tickets purchased.
“So, come along and enjoy yourself, everything that you put in, everything that they collect, is going to very worthwhile causes.
“I’ve been at a couple of Celtic Foundation events as well, and both clubs do a fantastic job for people who are not as fortunate as some others.”
While the result of the match doesn’t matter, it is really pleasing to hear that so many Celtic fans have purchased tickets for the game.
The clash takes place during the international break, so the club should give it a good billing online.
On that note, four new players have today been added to an ever-growing Celtic list.
As the Celtic Foundation announced, Shay Given, Ross Wallace, Trevor Sinclair and Stephen Crainey are all in.
Should be a good one.
