Ange delivers brilliant squad update as winter break pays off big for Celtic

Ange Postecoglou is expecting the majority of his injured Celtic players to be fit for the upcoming match against Hibernian on January 17th.

Celtic were literally limping towards matches against Hibs and Rangers when ten of the Scottish Premiership clubs voted to bring forward the winter break by a week.

The primary purpose of the vote was to allow fans as much time as possible to get into matches following Scottish Government restrictions.

However, it’s had the added benefit of rejuvenating a beleaguered Hoops squad for the restart.

Postecoglou delivered an injury update tonight, telling Celtic TV: “They’re all at different stages of their recovery but they’re all progressing really well.

“Part of the reason we wanted to get the three lads in early from Japan is that we didn’t have the depth needed or the quality to rotate our team. I think we suffered because of that. Quite a few of the players were carrying more load because we didn’t have alternatives.

“They’re all at different stages of recovery but we expect the majority to be up and running and available when the season restarts. That’ll be great because hopefully, we’ll have the depth to cope.”

This is what we like to hear Ange! It really sounds like Celtic will be in far better shape than the team selections against St Mirren and St Johnstone which were, eh, weakened at best.

Ultimately it contributed to us dropping points in Paisley, so we really need our strongest players available, or at least have viable replacements.

It all bodes rather well and I can’t wait to see Ange’s starting eleven a week on Monday.
