Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed neither Carl Starfelt nor Yosuke Ideguchi will feature for the Bhoys against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Ideguchi was previously reported to have picked up an injury in training while Starfelt has only just returned to the group following a hamstring injury suffered on international duty.

The Bhoys boss confirmed the news in a press conference today which our friends at GIGPOD attended.

The good news is they are the only confirmed absentees, with everyone else featuring in recent pre-season action available to play against the Dons.

That includes Moritz Jenz, who was rumoured to have been a doubt for the Scottish Premiership opener.

It means Postecoglou has a very strong squad to choose his first eleven of the season from.

Some players have looked particularly sharp in pre-season, including Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, so it’ll be interesting to see what the manager regards as his strongest group right now.

Pre-season is now ultimately irrelevant and what is important is who can perform and pick up all three points this weekend.

Aberdeen arrive off the back of four League Cup group victories, scoring 12 goals along the way without reply. They’ll be eager to take advantage of any Celtic rustiness and get their season off to a flyer in a big TV game.
