Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has revealed that newest Hoops recruit, Sead Haksabanovic, will have to wait to make his debut for the club.
The 23-year-old arrived at Parkhead on Thursday afternoon, signing a long-term contract with the club, becoming Celtic’s eighth signing of the window.
With most of Postecoglou’s business coming before the start of the Scottish Premiership season, players have been ready to go right from the off in competitive action.
However, Haksabanovic may need some time to get up to speed with the rest of the Celtic squad after joining from Rubin Kazan.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Postecoglou confirmed that the Montenegrin internationalist won’t quite be ready in time for the Bhoys’ trip to Tannadice on Sunday.
Instead, the club’s new number nine will spend more time on his fitness and will now need to wait a little longer before making his debut for the club.
The Celtic boss also expressed his delight at getting his new attacking recruit in the door, stating that the winger will be a ‘real asset’ to the squad this season.
When asked if Haksabanovic would be ready for the weekend, he said [Sky Sports]: “No, he won’t be. We’ll do some work with him.
“But it’s great to have him in any part of the group. I think he’ll be a real asset to us with what’s ahead, and he’s a quality player who is at a good age for us.
“So, we will get him up to speed first, and hopefully, he’ll be available in the coming weeks.”

Haksabanovic will be biding his time for Celtic debut, but he could be a crucial player for Ange Postecoglou this season
By now, we all know the demands and high energy needed to perform in Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side.
So, it is the right choice for Sead Haksabanovic to bide his time and work on his fitness before being handed his debut.
Although he may need to wait a little longer to make his first appearance for the club, the work being put in at Lennoxtown will be well worth it.
The former West Ham man is likely to get plenty of minutes this season as Celtic prepare to face another hectic schedule, and he could prove to be a key man in Postecoglou’s squad.
Hopefully, the winger won’t have to wait too long for his Celtic debut. But, I am sure the Hoops manager will be ready to hand him his first appearance when the right time comes.
