With no opportunity for the manager to do media appearances during the international break, it’s been a long wait for Celtic supporters who want to know the status of key players such as Aaron Mooy, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.
There have been varying degrees of concern for all three over the last fortnight, alongside a few others who either didn’t travel to represent their country or returned home early after picking up knocks.
Today, Ange Postecoglou was on media duties ahead of the weekend action and did confirm a couple will miss out on upcoming games, while others are doubtful.
Speaking on Sky Sports News this afternoon, the Bhoys boss said: “Anthony Ralston and Liel Abada picked up some injuries in camp so will probably miss a couple of weeks. We will see how they develop.
“James Forrest is still out for a little bit of time. The other two are Aaron Mooy and Tomoki Iwata, who have stayed with us and they are touch and go for the weekend, we don’t see them being too far away.”
We’ll take the lack of discussion about Hatate as a sign of good news. The same goes for Maeda. Although, more comments may come out on those two as the afternoon develops and Postecoglou’s full press conference comments emerge.
Celtic face Ross County in Dingwall on Sunday. On the face of it, this could be considered a tricky trip. But the Bhoys are in imperious winning form and haven’t put a foot wrong domestically since way back in September.
We’ll be highly fancied to pick up another three points, regardless of who is out and who is fit. The manager will have the chance to field a strong eleven ready to get the job done.
