Ange Postecoglou is buoyed by the work that’s being done to harmonise the first team with the Celtic B team, speaking after Joey Dawson’s debut for the Bhoys today.
Dawson was handed a surprise call up today after extensive injuries and illnesses in the Celts squad, even finding himself on the pitch in the first half after Kyogo Furuhashi hobbled off.
He showed composure throughout holding the ball up, bringing others into the game and fitting in generally well without being outstanding.

Celtic boss discusses Joey Dawson debut
Asked about the number of debuts players are making recently, as well as Dawson’s performance, Postecoglou told BBC Radio Scotland after the match: “It’s been a challenging year, for sure. Yeah, he did well. We kind of threw him on today, as we had to.
“The beauty of it is whether they are playing for us or for our B team, you’re trying to play a similar way and train a similar way. So when they have to make the transition it’s easier for them. He acquitted himself well.
“We’ve had some challenges and this is just another one we’ve had to overcome.”
Owen Moffat has also been used in recent weeks, another from the B team. Meanwhile, the likes of Ryan Mullen and Ben Doak were also featured on the Celtic bench today.
Clearly, this isn’t ideal as they continue to learn their trade rather than naturally graduate to the senior side, but there at least seems to be some sort of confidence from Ange that these players can step in and do a job if needed.
The future is bright with some of the players in our ranks and hopefully Joey Dawson can push on from here.
In other news, Ange brilliantly shoots down journalist’s post-match question with scathing answer.
