Ange Postecoglou gives positive Celtic injury update ahead of Hearts clash

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Celtic regulars Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic will be available for tomorrow’s game against Hearts.

Rogic has missed four games with a hamstring injury, after being taken off in the Bhoys’ 3-1 win over Hibernian. Bitton, meanwhile, was a casualty of the game against Bayer Leverkusen.

He missed Celtic’s victory over Aberdeen at the weekend, with James McCarthy filling in.

Postecoglou said, however, that there’s no update on long-term absentee Christopher Jullien. The Celtic boss was speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow night’s meeting with Hearts [via Jo Hendry/Go Radio]:

While Bitton only missed a single game, his improved form has been a real boost to Postecoglou. Playing in his preferred position as a defensive midfielder, the Israel international has been crucial in dictating the tempo of games.

Rogic returning is excellent news, too. The 51-cap Socceroo has been integral to much of Celtic’s better attacking play. His ability to find Kyogo in space was missed over the last few games.

With Hearts representing a real test tomorrow night at Celtic Park, these are very positive updates from the boss.

Ange Postecoglou will be delighted with Celtic returnees for Hearts clash but Jullien remains a worry

Of course, there’s always a cloud to the silver lining. Postecoglou remains uncertain over Christopher Jullien’s availability.

The French defender has been out since last December, following a collision with a post against Dundee United. It’d certainly be useful having him back, with no update on Carl Starfelt either.

He certainly has long-term credentials. However, the two missing defenders will be a headache for Ange Postecoglou as he tries to put out his best Celtic side.

With news today of the fee expected for loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers, we’re likely to see the Bhoys look to bolster their defence in the January window.

Still, with Rogic and Bitton returning, there’s plenty of reason for optimism ahead of another massive league game for Celtic.
