Ange Postecoglou makes claim about what he believes he achieved at Celtic

Ange Postecoglou has spoken out about his time at Celtic and said he believes he made a ‘real impact’ in Scotland during his two seasons at Parkhead.

The former Celtic manager was speaking out about the breakthrough of Australian managers in the game when he looked back on his time in the east of Glasgow and shared how he plans to emulate his impact in Paradise in the English Premier League.

Postecoglou said [ESPN], “Look, the way I view it, I still haven’t made the impact I want to make particularly in the Premier League but even on this side of the world yet. I’m still pushing to prove myself just within myself about what I believe I can make an impact in.

“If I stretch it out further, Harry Kewell has gone into Yokohama — he’s the third Australian manager since I’ve been there. That shows me it has filtered into that part of the world, definitely.

“The next test will come over here. I enjoyed my time at Celtic, and I think I did make a real impact up there, but making a real impact here in the Premier League will help accelerate that process.”

Coming to Celtic as a relatively unknown manager, Postecoglou’s start to life at Celtic stuttered. Three defeats in his first six fixtures put the Aussie gaffer right under the microscope but he was unmoved in his commitment to how he wanted to play football.

And did we not just reap those rewards? As well as watching exciting football, we were also treated to an unexpected league and Scottish Cup double in Postecoglou’s first Celtic season.

However, it was Ange’s second season that really sealed his status in the eyes of the Celtic fans as a legend.

Jota, Kyogo and Cameron Carter-Vickers were all fully settled into the club and all three, alongside Matt O’Riley, combined to deliver a historic eighth domestic treble.

Ange didn’t just make an impact in Scottish football, he blew it up and given time at Spurs, there is no doubt he will do the same for the North London club.
