Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has stated the day he was appointed as the proudest moment he’s enjoyed since arriving in Glasgow.

The Australian takes charge of his 100th fixture with the Bhoys tomorrow night at home to Hearts and was asked multiple questions on the landmark in today’s media conference.

As always, Postecoglou isn’t too keen to reflect on the past, but did give some thoughts on reaching that mark and gave a typically Ange response when asked about his proudest moment.

He said [Celtic FC]: “The day I was appointed, mate. That was it for me. All you can ever ask for in life and particularly somebody like myself is an opportunity. If people give you that opportunity then the rest is kind of up to each individual, myself, to take that.

“Being given the opportunity to manage this great football club was the best day for me. I’ve just been working hard ever since to hopefully repay that faith people showed in me.

“I wouldn’t have taken the job if I thought I wasn’t going to do well. I’ve said a few times that’s the responsibility you have being at this football club. You understand that success is an expectation. I clearly understood that and I knew I had to deliver that fairly quickly if I was going to be here for 100 games.

“From my perspective, my focus is always on the football and the kind of team we want to be. It’s fair to say, with that, what we’ve achieved in 20 months has been the most pleasing part. We’re really on track with playing the kind of football we want this team to. I can keep accelerating and make us a more compelling football team.”

Postecoglou really does have a grand vision for the Bhoys and it’s clear any time he faces the media that the current iteration of this squad still has a way to go to reach the heights he wants.

That’s not to say he is unhappy with them either, of course. As he’s noted, he is very happy with the progress they’ve made during his time here. That ‘acceleration’ he talks about sounds exciting, from this point, doesn’t it?
