Ange Postecoglou has today stated that Celtic are pushing loan exits in the final week of the transfer window.

The Hoops appear to have had a hugely successful window so far with as many as 5 new faces coming into the club. Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Johnny Kenny, and Matt O’Riley have all signed up for the Postecoglou revolution.

In addition to that, Celtic have managed to get some of their youngsters out on loan agreements such as Liam Shaw and Brody Patterson to name a couple.

Ange gave an interview on Celtic TV earlier this week where he didn’t rule out additional signings in the final week of the window. However, speaking to Sky Sports this afternoon, it’s clear that loan deals for some of the younger players is the main focus as the window prepares to close on Monday night

“There’s still a week or so and there’s always stuff happening in the background. We’re keen to get a couple of loans for our boys who we feel need some game-time. So there will still be some activity.

“But beyond that, there’s nothing firmly planned. In terms of our strategy leading into it, we’ve got the business done that we wanted to in terms of incomings.”

Celtic sqaud looks serious enough to challenge for the title

Let’s face it, you can never beat the feeling of a late deadline-day signing. And who knows? Ange certainly appears to like pulling surprises out of his hat. Given how well Michael Nicholson has performed in his first transfer window too, you wouldn’t put it past the club bringing 1 or 2 more in over the next 5 days.

However, in saying that, there’s not a major need to strengthen this squad further at the moment. There’s perhaps an argument to say we need a top-class left-back in the door. In all seriousness, it’s a position that is going to need addressed at some stage. But in saying that, Ange looks happy to go with Liam Scales and Greg Taylor as his first-team options.

But where else do Celtic really need another body? We have 4 fit and available center-backs who we know can operate efficiently at domestic level. Do we really want to splash out on another and try to form a new centre-back partnership at this stage of the season?

It’s not as if we need any more wingers or central midfielders either. Considering the firepower we also have up front, there’s no chance another striker comes through the Parkhead gates. For Ange now, the most important thing is getting players back from injury and motoring ahead with what he’s now got.

Celtic are absolutely spot on to look for loan offers for some of their other players too. The likes of Adam Montgomery, Osaze Urhoghide, and perhaps even Dane Murray could do with some exposure elsewhere.

But in terms of incomings? We look in very good shape. If there are any late additions, we should let it come as a surprise.
