Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has responded to his new song that was belted out by Hoops supporters at Dens Park this afternoon.

Postecoglou watched on as Celtic managed to record a fine 4-2 win in the City of Discovery this afternoon. The result helped keep us in touch with rivals Rangers heading into the international break.

The manager, meanwhile, has seen his popularity shoot up in recent weeks. This has been down to the fine run of form his team has been on with 6 wins in their last 7 matches. The Greek-Australian has received plenty of validation for his work since the last international break.

No surprise then that the Celtic supporters found a way to fit his name into their own rendition of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”.

Ange gave his own reaction to the song on Celtic TV post-match, as he made the following quip:

“Yeah I’ll tell you what, I thought that would’ve been the biggest challenge trying to fit Postecoglou into a song. But they’ve managed it so credit to them!”

Ange Postecoglou’s relationship with the Celtic supporters couldn’t be greater

It’s bizarre when you think of it at face value. Celtic are going to be 4 points behind our rivals by the end of play today and yet the manager is being heralded as a hero. Some could be forgiven for wondering what on earth is going on.

Well, the truth is that simply defining our season with that would be to miss out all necessary context.

Postecoglou has overseen one of the biggest rebuilds this club has had to go through in the modern era. In addition to that, he’s had to do whilst ensuring there’s still a title-race in his debut season and with his Chief Executive departing out of nowhere early into their relationship.

Despite losing a host of his top players such as Kris Ajer, Ryan Christie, and Odsonne Edouard respectively, Celtic have still managed to be a better watch this season. That’s simply down to what the manager has provided us with as their replacements.

He’s also attractive to Celtic supporters due to his playing style. Postecoglou has a way of playing the game that he won’t waver from. An exciting, gung-ho attacking style that our fanbase can relate with. It’s no wonder he’s become so popular in such a short space of time.

This feels like it’s only the beginning, and there are that many promising signs it’s difficult to keep up.
