Ange Postecoglou is widely being reported as a managerial target for Besiktas.

The Istanbul giants mutually terminated the contract of Sergen Yalçın after a disappointing season in which they finished fourth.

Postecoglou has been out of work since October, when Nottingham Forest gave him the bullet after just 39 days in the role.

He is firmly back on the market ahead of the summer, and could be tempted to work in the notorious goldfish bowl of the Turkish capital… as well as reuniting with a man he brought to Celtic.

As has been reported by leading Turkish outlets Fanatik and A Spor, Postecoglou is a managerial target for Besiktas.

There, he could reunite with Hyeongyu Oh, whom he brought to Glasgow in January 2023.

Reportedly alongside him on the list at the Besiktas Stadium are Oliver Glasner, Roberto Mancini, Arda Turan and Razvan Lucescu.

Postecoglou’s exact plans for his next managerial role remain unclear. After two sackings in such quick succession, it’s unclear whether or not he could get another role in the Premier League.

He has been working as a technical observer for UEFA, and is also set to work as a pundit for ITV at this summer’s World Cup.

Oh was brought to Glasgow by a combination of Postecoglou and Mark Lawwell three-and-a-half years ago, but never established himself as a first team starter.

After moving to Genk for £3.5 million, the striker saw his value skyrocket, being denied a £20 million move to Stuttgart by a medical before making the switch to Turkey.

There, he is already a fan-favourite, becoming the first-ever Besiktas player to score in all of their first three games.

After bringing him to Glasgow, Postecoglou said: “He’s someone that Mark Lawwell and myself identified really early on in the piece.

“We thought he’d be the first one through the door, but it’s fair to say that it’s taken a while to get the negotiations done and to get him here.

“It’s really credit to the player himself and to Michael Nicholson for their perseverance because there were times when I thought it wasn’t going to happen.

“I kinda lost a bit of heart, but they both persevered to get it done. So it’s great to have him here. I’m sure he’ll add to our football club.”
