Norwich City boss Dean Smith has offered a ringing endorsement of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic after the Canaries’ 2-0 defeat at Parkhead yesterday.
Celtic saw rounded off their pre-season with a goal in each half from Daizen Maeda and David Turnbull, to secure a farily comfortable win against the recently relegated Championship side.
As reported by The Glasgow Times, Smith said: “Celtic are a good level team, you can see what they have been working on.

“They have good rotation and movement, full-backs coming inside and the wide players drift onto the outside and try to give overloads in different parts of the pitch. They have really good movement too.
“They are probably a Premier League team in the making. [It was] a really good test for us. Obviously we’ve got Hibs tomorrow but it’s a great game to have going into Cardiff next weekend.
“A real test because of the way they play, they have really good technicians of the ball and play at speed. I’m happy with it.”
Celtic were a class above yesterday’s opponents
Despite the frequent talk from English pundits that Celtic would struggle in England’s lower leagues, never mind the Premier League, the Hoops looked a class above Norwich yesterday and were dominant against Blackburn Rovers last weekend before a host of changes.
Reo Hatate was inspirational again, as Celtic’s movement and speed of play overwhelmed their Championship opponents, whilst new signings Aaron Mooy, and Mortiz Jenz got their first taste of Celtic Park, as both came on as second half substitutes for their respective debuts.
Although it’s unlikely to have caused Postecologou any sleepless nights had Smith’s endorsement not come Celtic’s way, it’s still nice to have the acknowledgement of the side’s quality, regardless.
