Ange Postecoglou was a happy man after watching his Celtic side beat Motherwell at Fir Park and said after the game the signs of a good performance were in the post all week.
Tom Rogic, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda were all on the scoresheet in a 4-0 Scottish Premiership win that maintains Celtic’s narrow lead at the top of the table.
Given the exertions and the highs of Wednesday night, there was the potential of something of a hangover this afternoon. However, what Postecoglou is witnessing in training right now is the sign of a team on the march to success this season.
Postecoglou says Celtic training is ‘relentless’ right now
Speaking to The Scottish Sun after the game, he said: “I was pleased with the performance levels, especially after Wednesday night. The players invested a lot emotionally and physically and credit to the players, I thought it was first-rate.
“We are human beings. It’s not just like I say ‘we focus on the next one’ and they can put it to bed. It takes its toll.
“I watched training on Saturday and, even the guys who didn’t play, the training was relentless and really competitive. So I kind of knew we would be fine.”
For Celtic to have this kind of focus at this stage of the campaign is great news.
They’ve just gone top of the table, they’ve just seen off Rangers on an emotional night at Celtic Park. But they haven’t taken their eye off the ball, not for one minute. Even behind closed doors there’s no let-up.
What’s more, if that does slip a little, Postecoglou is there to oversee and step in should he have to.
Right now Celtic are a winning machine and the next stop is Pittodrie.
