Celtic supporting musician Bemz has supercharged Ellie Dixon’s acoustic cover of the supporter song for Jota with a superb verse rapped over the video that has taken the internet by storm over the last week.
Dixon’s upload of the track had already racked up hundreds of thousands of views before Bemz dueted the video on the social media app TikTok. The Glasgow-based rapper has made it even more popular, racking up over 600,000 views of his own version across TikTok and Twitter. It’s even hitting American audiences with NBC Sports show Men In Blazers showcasing it on their own social media.
Dropping Celtic references into his lyrics, Bemz is now looking for an official collaboration with Dixon to ‘give the people what they want’ after the singer replied to his TikTok post with praise that he had ‘killed’ the assignment. You can see the video embedded below!
Bemz is a Celtic fan on the up
Bemz has been on my radar for a while as a Celtic fan on the up after former colleague Euan Davidson alerted me to his tunes a couple of years ago. He’s been having quite the 2022 and 2023, with performances of his own tracks performed live on BBC radio and television.
He’s also had the pleasure of being featured in the Celtic View and even has a big headline gig at the SWG3 venue in Glasgow on April 28th. You can find tickets for that via Ticketweb.
Like Dixon, his original music is available across a variety of music services, including Spotify. He’s not a stranger to a football reference with one of his most popular songs named ‘Zidane’ in honour of the French icon.
While it was brilliant to see Dixon find the Celtic community after her appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live, it’s just as satisfying to see one of our own, a Bhoys supporter, find an audience with his own creativity and love for the club.
Hopefully, the duo manage to figure out the logistics of an official collaboration – I’m positive it would be very well received by the fans. Maybe the club can even reach out to them and work something out for end-of-season celebrations!
Well in Bemz mate!
