The time has come for Kieran Tierney to close his Arsenal chapter and open a new one at Celtic.

Tierney left Celtic in 2019 to become the Parkhead club’s most expensive transfer sale ever in the history of the Bhoys.

The defender became an instant Arsenal fan favourite as his down-to-earth nature and battling qualities on the pitch endeared the Celtic fan to the Emirates support.

However, after Mikel Arteta didn’t take up an option to extend Tierney’s stay at the Premier League club for another season, the wheels were set in motion to broker the full-back’s Celtic return.

And now that Tierney is a matter of weeks away from heading back to the Hoops, Arsenal fans have reacted as their hero said goodbye for one last time.

Kieran Tierney says goodbye to Arsenal fans before big Celtic move

Despite the perceived lack of game time Tierney had at Arsenal due to injuries, the Celtic-bound defender still had a huge hand in delivering some success to the Premier League club.

Delivering an FA Cup and two Community Shields, Tierney said goodbye to Arsenal for one last time before his big Celtic move.

Tierney said, “Just thank you for everything from day one. They supported us through the good times and the bad, and they supported me through some hard times as well.

“I think that’s what I’m most grateful for, the times where it wasn’t so good or so easy for me is when they probably supported me most, so I’m just very grateful and I feel very lucky to have the support from them.

“I feel so lucky that I’ve played for this club and the love that the supporters have given me has been amazing. I’ve loved every day here and I’ve learned so much, I’ve improved so much and I just feel very lucky.

“It’ll be hard but it’s a happy goodbye. I’ve loved it here, loved every minute of it. There are countless memories that are amazing for me; your debut is always special, and winning the FA Cup as well in the first season.

“It’s a great team, and I’m so close to some of the boys in there. I’ve been here a long time, so it’ll be sad but a happy goodbye.”

Arsenal fans thank Kieran Tierney for ‘injecting fire’ into the team as Celtic move beckons

With 144 appearances, six goals and 14 assists, Tierney forged a special place in the Arsenal fans’ hearts and it is clear that that feeling is reciprocated.

One fan was gutted as @adamwest2212 replied, “Will always be remembered as a player that gave everything. True love for the game and a joy to watch. Will miss you, bro. All the best.”

One sickened Arsenal fan posted:

@AinomugishaN82 paid a touching tribute to the former Gunner and said, “Passionate, professional and forever a gunner. We love you Kieran Tierney and we shall miss you forever.”

@FuturednbUK paid the ultimate tribute to Tierney with this, “Getting rid of the club’s best left-back is sad. But if it’s the right thing to do, we generally won’t do it.”

He clearly misunderstood Tierney was coming back to Celtic. However:

And to finish off, this excellent tribute sums Tierney up and should make Celtic fans excited about the return of the lifelong Bhoys fan as @gunner_thoughts said, “Best of luck KT.

“Thank you for injecting your fire into the locker room at a moment it so desperately needed it.

“Sorry the injuries didn’t let us really maximize our potential together. Your hard work never wavered though!”

With Tierney set to be unveiled by Celtic soon, the Parkhead support will be delighted at how the Arsenal fans respected the Scotland man during his six-year stay at the club.
