James Forrest’s upcoming testimonial is one that every Celtic fan will agree is well deserved. The Celtic winger has had an astonishing career in which he has amassed 25 major honours.
On Tuesday night, Celtic will face the Spanish side, Athletic Club to give the Parkhead club and our fans an opportunity to thank Forrest for his loyal service over his distinguished Celtic career.
The Spanish club have gone above and beyond in their role within the fixture. Most teams tend to turn up for these games, hope for a huge crowd, put on some decent football and get involved in the celebrations on the night.

Not Athletic though. This club have penned an outstanding tribute to James Forrest and has given a detailed account of Celtic’s history to educate their fans in a statement on the club’s official website.
In it, they reference Forrest’s career at Celtic. How many appearances he has made for the club and said how the winger has shown ‘fierce loyalty’ to Celtic as a ‘one club man’ just like the legendary Billy McNeill.
Of course, we all remember the incredible tribute the Spaniards paid to Billy McNeill when they awarded him their One-Club Man Award in 2019.

Athletic also go into detail about Celtic’s roots. They tell their fans about the history of Brother Walfrid and why the club was formed and bring the story right up to date by speaking about the recent treble win, the return of Brendan Rodgers and a round-up of Callum McGregor and some of the first team players their fans should look out for.
It really was a brilliant gesture that I don’t think I have seen any club do at any level, never mind a testimonial. Tuesday night will be a great night for the Celtic legend.
With tickets still on sale for the event, Celtic and Forrest will be hoping for a big turnout as he has pledged to donate a significant portion of the proceeds to two charities close to his heart.
