Auchinleck Talbot may have no option but to play Celtic at a neutral ground.

The Hoops will face the non-league side away from home in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup in what will be the first competitive meeting between the two.

It will be a baptism of fire for Wilfried Nancy, who will be required to win the trophy back after the cup final defeat against Aberdeen back in May.

For Auchinleck, the chance to play at their home ground of Beechwood Drive would be a momentous occasion, however, they may be denied that privilege.

Should Auchinleck Talbot be allowed to host the Celtic game at their own ground?

Police Scotland and the Scottish Football Association reportedly have concerns about the stadium’s safety when Celtic come to town.

Kilmarnock have reportedly offered the Ayrshire side the chance to play the game at Rugby Park, but a new statement from the non-league outfit has provided some hope that they can host the game at their own ground.

A statement on the club’s website said: The club had a positive meeting with East Ayrshire Council and local police yesterday regarding the requirements for the Scottish Cup fixture against Celtic to be played at Beechwood Park.

“The club will now prepare our matchday operations plan (inside and outside the ground) for submission to the Safety Advisory Group which is scheduled for next Friday.

“Further details for the fixture will be released in due course through official club channels.”
